Will Thalheimer describes the traces of that bogus information in his article "People remember 10%, 20%...Oh Really?". People have been repeating false information without checking it for years. Unfortunately, we don't know just how much information is retained through different learning methods. It is apparent that presenting information in different ways is better for learning by different people, or even that the way in which one person learns also varies.
